Tori's Week 1: Completed

I'm the type of cook who never reads the recipe. This happens almost every time I cook and it never ends well.On a normal day I'm missing an ingredient. On a bad day I'm missing time ("let the sauce simmer for two hours?!" Sure.).

I did the same thing with this necklace that I do when I cook: I didn't read the instructions and had to figure some stuff out along the way. The first attempt ended like this:

This was a knot that there was no coming back from. The instructions had me working with twelve strands of embroidery thread at a time, which might be do-able the next time I try this. The knot came from having beads that were too small to go through the darning needle (whoops) and ended with me cutting the whole thing up.

Once I downsized to six strands and was able to thread the beads without the darning needle, things went much smoother. I'm pretty happy with how this necklace turned out, even though I like flax & twine's final product better.

My goal for next week: read the directions first. And use a table so that the couch isn't covered with embroidery thread and jump beads.
